Lana Del Rey - "Video Games" (Jamie Woon Remix)

1.

I’m thinking about changing my name from Monster to Mana Del Rey. Lizzy Grant proved that going through a seemingly insignificant name change can make you a much more interesting and discussed person. Never mind the weird inflated lip thing, controversy over where she came from, or the fact that she actually has some measure of musical talent. None of that has any relevance here. It’s all about the different name. So when Lizzy swapped out her boring old birth handle for something shiny and new, the career (and scrutiny) of Lana Del Rey began.

With everyone from blogsters (blog hipsters) to GQ covering and critiquing her slightest moves, this girl’s threat level of becoming overexposed is increasing at a dangerous rate. One article referred to her as “The Kreayshawn of moody, electro-tinged indie”, a comparison that makes me want to slap someone. Not from anger or disagreement, but simply because thinking about Kreaysahwn makes me want to slap someone. I digress. There’s no telling where or when Del Rey’s popularity will peak, but with buzz building behind singles like “Blue Jeans” and “Video Games”, it’s safe to say we’re on the front end of her tsunami wave.

London artist Jamie Woon recognized an opportunity to surf this wave and capitalized on doing so by reworking the track “Video Games”, which you can stream below. Keep in mind that the original version of this tune hasn’t even been released for official download on iTunes yet. It’s only offered as part of the full EP. If you want you can catch that on October 16th. How’s that for buzz?
