Crystal Fighters, the impossibly fun Spanish and English band that combines synths and Basque instruments to great effect, are touring America. Following the U.S. release of Star of Love, they’re bringing the music to a city near (most) of you. To celebrate hitting our shores, the band is premiering this restrained remix of the bright “Earth Island.” The light guitar plucks and overpowering synth-work of the original is swapped out for rolling percussion and repurposed vocals that sound more like a mantra than a song. While the first version was meant to be played, loudly, at a concert, this one belongs in a dark club, the music paired up with some flashing lights.
