British duo The Code's excellent mixtape, Blue Electronica, came out almost a year ago, and besides a pair of bonus songs this summer, the band has remained relatively quite in the interim. Today, however, they're breaking that silence with the arrival of their new single, "Same People."
The track shows clear growth, proving that their time away wasn't idly spent. The production is sharper and more expertly layered, with swells of glitchy synths over building percussion rolls. "Same People" also showcases their genuine strength in songwriting. The track features their signature haunting vocals, but here they're a touch more accessible and melodic than before.
Despite this progression, their messaging is still grounded in the same ideology. “Humans are humans. We all have emotions, issues, likes, loves, hardships, ups and downs," the band says. "Everybody experiences these things and many more things in different ways but at the end of the day we are all share them.”
The Code are performing at No Ceilings London on February 15 alongside Yellow Days and Ama Lou. Buy tickets here.
