Mash-ups can be hit or miss, but when one manages to find two artists who make a lot of sense together, the result can be highly satisfying. Case in point: DJ Skarface's Shadow The Jewels 20-minute long mash-up, which combines DJ Shadow and Run The Jewels.
Pulling the vocals from Run The Jewels' debut self-titled album and blending that with classic beats from DJ Shadow's catalog, it's a brilliant reminder of not just how great Killer Mike and El-P are at rapping, but also how good they sound together with DJ Shadow (remember "Nobody Speak"?).Â
DJ Shadow released his fifth album The Mountain Will Fall (which features "Nobody Speak") in June of last year, and Run The Jewels blessed their fans with Run The Jewels 3 on Christmas Eve. Stream and download RTJ3 here.Â
