The Internet

Earlier in 2016, The Internet shared that they plan to release the follow-up to their Grammy-nominated album Ego Death this spring. In addition to contributing to the group's upcoming album, the band members also plan to drop their own solo projects in the near future. While the release of solo projects often signifies trouble brewing in a group, the bandmates explained that giving each other space to work on their own material and experiment with new sounds will help the band stay true to their aesthetic.

The group recently sat down with Pharrell to discuss their solo projects, creative processes, and group dynamics on his Beats 1 show, OTHERtone. The full interview will air on Beats 1 this Sunday.

"More than anything, you'll see what we add to The Internet as individuals," vocalist Syd says of the upcoming solo projects. She goes on to explain that her forthcoming album, Dive, will have a pop-leaning sound and will not include any live drums, a significant departure from The Internet's sound.

"When we do the next Internet album ... we would have gotten out all of the stuff that we wanted to do that we couldn't do on Ego Death and it will be kind of like a clean slate where nobody's stepping on anybody's toes," Syd explains.

Pharrell expresses awe at the band's genuine support for each other in their individual endeavors, saying, "It's awesome to see a band love each other enough to support each other equally."

Check out an eight-minute snippet of the interview below, and keep an eye out for the full clip on Sunday.
