Ever since Father John Misty released his excellent sophomore album at the beginning of last year, he’s been busy touring across the globe in support of I Love You, Honeybear. Understandably, there hasn’t been much in the way of new music.
Father John Misty did, however, upload a song titled “Real Love Baby” to his SoundCloud back in May, and tonight, the official single has been released. Featuring Thomas Brenneck of The Budos Band on guitar, Father John Misty’s vocals are distorted just enough to give them a hazy effect, adding to the smooth, laidback feel of “Real Love Baby.”
It was confirmed in May, when the first iteration of the song surfaced, that it would not be featured on Father John Misty’s third album, and would exist as a one-off.
