The Avalanches sure have been taking their time releasing the follow-up to their 2000 debut album, Since I Left You. It still doesn’t have a release date, but we may be getting closer, if the (faux?) documentary trailer they posted on Facebook, titled Since They Left Us, is any indication.
The two-minute clip pokes fun at the long wait between albums, with the band citing several sources from over the past 16 years as saying the album is coming soon, and quoting themselves as having said in 2011, “…we’ll probably take another ten years to get it mixed.”
The video also features Danny Brown (“The record me made is incredible, I can’t wait ’til Avalanches put out their next project.”), Ariel Pink (“The rumors are true, I suppose. I think what they do is very strange, it’s nothing like the way I work… I was just their stooge.”), and Father John Misty (“Mmm… what are, uh, The Avalanches?”).
