Almost two years of being arrested on drug and gun charges and now preparing for his trial, Bobby Shmurda has filed a suit against the NYPD for false imprisonment related to his arrest.

As Daily News points out, Shmurda’s Federal lawsuit claims that while he was at his friend’s home on Jume 3, 2014, the police officers kicked in the door and illegally entered the residence without a search warrant.” Shmurda also claims that as the police were going through the apartment, they taunted him by “chanting the lyrics to his chart-topping songs.”

Upon their search, the police claim that Shmurda attempted to conceal a handgun inside a couch and that they found drug paraphernalia, but Shurmda insists that neither the gun nor the drugs that were seized during the raid belonged to him. Shurmda has been denied bail a total of seven times since his arrest, and claims that he’s suffered permanent “nervous shock and mental anguish” due to the arrest.

Though it is mentioned in the same report by The Daily News that Shmurda has been released on $2 million bail, Shmurda’s lawyer has confirmed with Complex that he is in protective custody.

Bobby Shmurda will be facing his charges in court on May 11, according to VIBE.
