In 2015, The National’s Bryce Dessner collaborated with percussion quartet So Percussion on a composition titled “Music for Wood and Strings,” and now Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and S. Carey have shared a cover of the track, which they are billing as a “translucent remake.”

The remake features new vocals and lyrics from Carey, as well as, in classic Bon Iver fashion, reverb-heavy background vocals from Vernon. The track originally appeared in the announcement video for the 2016 Eaux Claires Music & Arts Festival, and Vernon wrote that it is continuing in “our tradition of announcing the festival lineup in a way that embodies the oddness of what can happen when we splatter the palette with a multitude of colors, then frame it in curiosity.”
