2013 and 2014 yielded a Run The Jewels album, but 2015 did not… unless you count Meow The Jewels, which is at the very least an interesting listen worthy of a spin or two. The good news is that it looks like Run The Jewels 3 will be released at some point this year: El-P recently shared a snippet of new material, and today, he said he is heading to the woods to start working on two albums, one of which is presumably RTJ3.
“today i retreat to the woods to commence production on 2 albums,” he tweeted. “if i get eaten by bears let the record show i was stoned and working.”
We’re assuming that by “the woods,” El-P is referring to the studio in Garrison, New York where the duo worked on their second album. Killer Mike previously said of working in that studio, “The process of doing the album out here in the middle of nowhere is strange, because there’s no sex clubs and drugs and violence, and it’s pretty peaceful and serene. That’s kind of not what Run The Jewels is about.”
Whatever it takes, man. Whatever it takes.
