One of the most interesting aspects of a new artist’s early career is to see the progression of their material. For ASHA, we saw her emotive on her first single, “We Can Do This,” accessible on her next, “Chapters,” and now we hear an entirely new direction from her on “Record Straight.” The track is noticeably more uptempo, with bouncy beats and energetic production. Yet her voice remains powerful as she sings about self-respect, not being a fool, not taking any shit.
