Spare me your jokes about how talent runs in the family. Taylor Bennett has real skills, and I’d like to think we’d be posting “Broad Shoulders” even without his brother’s verse. But it’s still worth mentioning: Chance the Rapper is a guest on this, the title track of his little brother’s upcoming album.
There are plenty of differences between their styles, but the beat (produced by Ludlow) definitely has some Social Experiment vibes—beautiful, melancholy piano paired with impactful percussion.
The siblings trade childhood memories and lessons about growing up on their verses. It’s the first time in a long time they’ve shared a track: “My thing with my brother is that he always wanted me to work on myself,” Taylor told Rolling Stone, “and [to] create my own name before we got to work together.”
Chance sounded pretty excited about the upcoming album too, telling the magazine, “It’s raw to watch him mature as an artist and a man. He put everything into this one.”
This is the first of two tracks the brothers recorded together—the second will appear on Chance’s third solo project. But Broad Shoulders comes first—Taylor Bennett’s tape drops on November 25. Stream the title track, and check the adorable artwork, below.
