Kodak Black is one of our favorite up-and-coming rappers, but the 18-year-old Florida artist has some things to get through before he’s back to making music. According to DJ Akademiks, Kodak was arrested and hit with several charges, including assault, robbery, kidnapping, driving with a suspended license, and possession of weed. He was pulled over after cops sought him on suspicion of robbery and assault, and the possession and driving with a suspended license charges were tacked on at that time.

The charges sound serious, but it’s unclear exactly what happened and if any of these charges will stick. When we talked to Kodak earlier this year, he told us he’d be trying to stay out of trouble now that he’s 18. “Of course. I ain’t even gotta speak about that. That’s just common sense, you know,” Kodak said. “I’m just outchea, you know? So sometimes the law don’t like that. But it’s not like, ‘Oh I wanna go to jail, lemme go to jail.’ I just be outchea and when you outchea, that’s what come with it.”

Aside from this, Kodak Black has been having a good year. He’s been picking up momentum in Florida, attracting major label attention, and he was recently played on Drake’s OVO Sound radio show on Beats 1. Hopefully he gets back to the music soon.
