At the end of last month we got hope that Adele’s upcoming album may be dropping sooner than expected when Billboard reported that the project was due out this November. We’re still a few months away and while we’re no closer to an official release date, we are getting snippets of more information about the album. This week Blur/Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn, who worked on the LP with Adele, spoke to the The Sun (via Pitchfork) about their efforts but unfortunately, he doesn’t make it sound incredibly promising.

“Adele asked me to work with her and I took the time out for her,” Albarn said. “And I’m not a producer, so… I don’t know what is happening really. Will she use any of the stuff? I don’t think so. Let’s wait and see. The thing is, she’s very insecure. And she doesn’t need to be, she’s still so young.

He then went on to discuss some of the finished tracks he heard, which he stated were “very middle of the road.” Womp womp. Here’s hoping he’s underselling it so we’re all blown away come November.
