Whether he’s operating through Toro Y Moi or another name (see: Les Sins), Chaz Bundick has no problem switching up his sound and giving listeners a dose of something that may be different than what you heard on the album. What For? featured more soothing funk melodies and his new record “Room for 1zone” is anything but that. The trap-influenced record gets an off-the-wall visual as well, showing someone standing outside the Prada Marfa in Texas holding their bulge. Because that’s what people do when they’re out in the middle of nowhere.
If Toro is moving in a different direction musically, it will be interesting to see if he reaches out to any rappers to join him.
