Most people may not even be aware, but Mos Def (aka Yasiin Bey) has seen the growth of A$AP Rocky from the beginning. As someone who keeps his ear to the younger acts, Mos got put on to the A$AP movement through Chace Infinite and witnessed how the crew has now turned into a global phenomenon.

During his lecture for the Red Bull Academy in London, Mos joined Rocky on stage to talk about how the two knew each other (the “Pretty Flacko” connection) and Rocky explained how excited he was to learn that Mos was a fan of his music. The two also revealed they have a collaboration on the way for the A.L.L.A. album, though they didn’t give many details about it. Before Yasiin got off the stage, he also gave props to some artists they rock with in the UK, name dropping Little Simz, Skepta, and others.

Throughout the rest of the hour and a half lecture, Rocky spoke on how he recorded the album on the same couch he is sitting on and how his process now compares to previous projects. Interestingly enough, he says there will be an English influence on the new album, because the energy there is something he soaked up while making it and he always like to push the envelope with his music.
