Listen to Tinashe's "Amethyst" Mixtape

None

Tinashe first found an audience through her mixtapes. Now that her debut album Aquarius is a few months old, the singer is returning to her roots with the Amethyst mixtape, named for her birthstone.

The songs seem to float a couple of feet off the ground—from the “Summer Madness” sampling “Wrong” (produced by Ryan Hemsworth) to the slow awakening of “Dreams Are Real,” Tinashe has delivered a polished, cohesive collection in Amethyst.

The tape flits between sung melodies and rap verses with ease, and aside from some incredible production (Dj Dahi and Iamsu also make appearances), Tinashe dominates the spotlight this time around. This is organic product straight from the artist (she recorded it in her bedroom studio), and it couldn’t be more pure. Stream and download Amethyst in full below.
