For any unknown musicians who doubt the power of open mic nights, Kate Miller’s story may change your mind. The 19 year old singer was discovered while performing at open mic nights around North London by legendary English performer and songwriter Barry Blue. Since that chance meeting Miller’s been busy writing and recording, releasing her debut EP this past September.

Now she’s sharing the video for one of the standouts from the project, “Maybe, Maybe Not.” The black and white clip is visually moving, accurately mirroring the melancholy feel depicted in the song. It’s a powerful combination, and if this is the kind of material Miller is producing at 19, I can only imagine what she’ll be doing in the years to come. Watch the video above.
