Wara From The NBHD first caught our ear last summer with the unflinching bars about growing up in ATL and meaty, Neptunes-esque beats on his debut full-length Kidnapped. On the brand-new If Guns Could Talk EP, Wara continues to take a conceptual approach, using his own experiences with gun violence as the primary lyrical theme. Wara, along with Henry Shoults, also produced the grungy, guitar-heavy album—it sounds almost like he put really fat beats of 2003-04 era alt-rock… in a good way. As he told Miss Info, “Sonically, as an artist, I’m tired of rappers making killing and drug dealing sound pretty, when it’s really dark and fucked up. So I’m here to fill that void.”
