We’ve gotten used to hearing the confident, introspective delivery of Canadian rapper Emay over his own production, but his new Sinner-Songwriter EP features some work from some of his favorite beatmakers like Star Slinger, Giraffage, and Hut. That last track, “Solitude,” is a beauty, and I’m not just saying that because the producer has the word “Pigeons” in his name.
“The Sinner, Song-Writer EP was actually kind of a detour for me,” explains Emay. “It was an attempt to test myself and work with some of my favorite producers. When I say it was a detour I’m referring to the fact that I was at a point where I was exhausted from working on my next full-length project, which will most likely be called Ilah. For that project I’m doing all of the production like my previous full-length project Adam, but now with all of the things I’ve learned, and the new found inspiration I got from completing the Sinner, Song-Writer EP, I’m really excited to see what the result of that will be.”
