Some of Tupac’s earliest rhymes have seen the light of day. Tupac’s first manager Leila Steinberg has given Noisey a glimpse of history, sharing three poems written over the course of a three years when the rapper was 17.

They’re titled “Things That Make Hearts Break,” “Cupid’s Smile II,” and “A Love Unspoken.” The poems already contain the same kind of language and rhythm that continues to resonate with fans nearly twenty years after his murder in Las Vegas. This is a Tupac just beginning to tell the world what he thinks of it, discovering the power of words and structure. Read the poems below.
