“Drown,” the latest single from English singer Marika Hackman and the first off her forthcoming debut album We Slept At Last, is stunning. Guided by her whispery, melodic vocals and soft, slow-rolling chords, “Drown” is effortlessly pure. Marika has always been a special talent whose understated nature serves as her main appeal, and it seems as if she plans on staying the course as she moves forward.

The title of the lead single is appropriate, as the hook, which echoes, “So I’ll drown in your mind, I will, I know I will,” feels truly drowned in emotion. Marika’s layered, drawn-out delivery is powerful and cinematic, particularly against the brooding backdrop. Stream in full below, and stay tuned for more. We Slept At Last is due out February 16.
