It’s hard out here in the music industry. Record sales are hitting all-time lows, digital sales are dropping, and even seemingly successful music endeavors can’t figure out how to profit.

Earlier this year, La Roux explained that even with eight million records sold, she’s not making money from record sales. She added that making money from performances isn’t easy, either. “Until you start getting to much larger venues, if you’ve got a five-piece band like I have, you find it very difficult to break even,” she said. “We don’t break even.”

For Britney Spears, things are working out a little better. According to TMZ, Britney signed a $310,000 per show deal with The Axis, Planet Hollywood’s 4,500-seat venue in Las Vegas, where she’ll be performing 96 shows over the next two years. That would bring her total to $29,760,000.

Now TMZ reports that the ticket sales have broken Planet Hollywood records and Britney’s team has renegotiated a deal to include merch and other perks, bringing her total earnings to around $475,000 per show. At 96 shows total, that’s $45,600,000 over the next two years.

Britney’s two-year residency begins on December 27. Check out dates and more info on Britney’s Vegas shows at Planet Hollywood’s website.
