Jeffrey Innes is a busy man. As the frontman of Yukon Blonde, he’s used to being on the road and in the studio, but at the end of 2013, he was in between albums and he had a break. Instead of relaxing, he decided to start a solo project called High Ends.

“I initially wanted to do something that was really collaborative,” Innes explains, “so I wrote a bunch of songs with the idea of bringing friends in. But all of my friends were on tour, so I ended up doing it myself.”

His debut album as High Ends is coming on October 7 via Dine Alone Records, and today we get a reggae-tinged CSS remix of “Intoxicated.” While the original has a heavy-handed, layered structure, this CSS remake is lighter on its feet with a nimble bass line, a little brass, and a breezy vibe.
