Grimes went on BBC Radio 1 to talk shop with Annie Mac this weekend. With her next album fully in the works, the Vancouverite stopped by via telephone to give us an update on her life in the 21st century and her studio process, which is related to but not exactly a form of hibernation. The new album might be “a double album, half-experimental, half pop…I’m trying to figure out how to put them together.”

Grimes also put together a “Bedtime Mix” for Annie. It includes tracks from Aphex Twin, Portishead, and Majical Cloudz. Grimes joins the show around the 29:00 minute mark. Check out some other notable quotes from the interview below the player.

On her next album:

I don’t know if it’s on the precipice…it’s about halfway done. I feel very good and stressed out.

On buttons:

They’re inconvenient and take forever.

On television:

I haven’t had a TV for eight years and I just got one…I’m kinda doing a lot of catching up.

On the bedtime mix:

A lot of it it from my childhood, when I’m going to bed I like to listen to nostalgic stuff.
