Last week, CBS News revealed a note found in Kurt Cobain’s wallet at the time of his death. They acquired the note after requesting evidence from the Seattle Police Department, and they claimed that Cobain was the author. This led to speculation about Kurt’s feelings toward Courtney and sparked more suspicion from conspiracy theorists who believe Kurt’s relationship with Courtney played a role in his death.

In an email to The Seattle Times, Courtney Love says that she actually wrote the note. She explains that it was written on New Year’s Eve in 1991, on the night of Nirvana’s show in San Francisco with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam.

Seattle author Charles R. Cross, who has written several books on Cobain, confirms the claim. “Early in their relationship, they wrote notes like that to each other constantly,” Cross said to The Associated Press. “The handwriting is absolutely Courtney’s.”

The picture of the note is cut off, but according to The Seattle Times, it ends with a promise to have sex “at least once a week, O.K.”
