Tinashe's 10 Favorite R&B Songs

Tinashe's picks for her 10 favorite R&B songs right now will surprise you.

1.

Tinashe staked her claim as an artist to look out for in the world of R&B in 2013. Specifically, she was exploring that downtempo "alt-R&B" lane, mixing syrupy vocals with hazy electronic production from people like Jacques Greene (on one-off collab "Painted Faces"), Ryan Hemsworth, and, on her Black Water mixtape, herself.

The talented singer and producer has a debut album on the way, which includes the DJ Mustard-produced "2On," featuring ScHoolbpy Q, and is slated to include collaborations with Mike WiL Made It and Dev Hynes.

Tinashe is also performing at SXSW, on two very impressive lineups. The first show is tonight 3/13, at the Yours Truly & Gorilla vs. Bear Presents... show with SOPHIE, Banks, and London Grammar. She is also hitting the heavily stacked Ray Ban x Boiler Room party on Saturday 3/15 with DJ Mustard. Other performers at that show include Four Tet, Future, Julio Bashmore b2b Omar S and lots more.

While we look forward to checking out Tinashe's live show, we asked her for her 10 favorite R&B songs are at the moment. From classic artists like Sade to fresh faces like Skin Town, and with a surprising No. 1, it's an interesting look at the songs that inform her sound.
