Hilly Dilly put us on to this Icelandic duo’s debut single, which came out in the first half of 2013. The song has some of the dark, reverberating minimalism of The xx, but it’s a little more colorful, boosted by an excellent hook that comes and goes too soon, making this one of those songs you want to press play on again once it ends. It lacks the folk elements and grandiosity that we’re used to hearing from modern Icelandic music, but it’s a nice surprise—a melodic piece of understated pop that has us hoping to hear more from Vök soon.
