When J Dilla passed away at the far too early age of 32 in 2006, he left behind a legacy of production work both released and never heard before. Much of that latter work has since come to light and, last year, some of the unreleased tracks from his collection were made into a 12-track EP called Dillatroit by his mother Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey and then pressed to vinyl by Detroit techno/house musician Moodymann’s label Mahogani Music. It was a limited edition record rare to come by.
Lucky for the J Dilla stans of the world, the Yancey Media Group run by Dilla’s mother has finally made the album available for stream and digital download. The album includes songs from J Dilla’s Lost Scrolls EP as well as the Rebirth of Detroit. Stream the album and view the tracklist below.
