Kanye West Speaks Out Against Grammy Album of the Year Snub

When the list of Grammy nominations was announced last Friday night, for many, one name was notably missing from the Album of the Year nominations and that was Kanye West‘s, for Yeezus. While performing in Phoenix last night, he took a moment to address his ongoing frustration with the Grammys saying, “And Yeezus is the top one or two album on every single list. But only gets two nominations from the Grammys. What are they trying to say?” He raises a valid point, as Yeezus came in at No. 1 on a huge number of year end lists, Pigeons & Planes’ included. Kanye was instead nominated for Best Rap Album of the year and Best Rap Song for “New Slaves.” See a fan-captured video of his comments above.

But Kanye isn’t the only one voicing his opinion about a Grammy snub. During a recent J. Cole show, a fan handed the rapper a banner she made with the words “Fuck the Grammys” written on it, which he held up for other concert goers to snap a picture of him with. J. Cole did receive a nomination for Best Rap/Sung collaboration with Miguel for “Power Trip,” however, Born Sinner was left out of the Rap Album of the Year category.
