Broken Bells—the duo of The Shins‘ James Mercer and producer Danger Mouse—are plotting their sophomore album for January 14. Today, they liberate “Holding On For Life.” As Danger Mouse points out to NPR, the song starts off sounding like “a Dre or Ice Cube record from the early ’90s or late ’80s” but it quickly veers into Bee Gees territory for the chorus, heavy on falsetto. You can pre-order After The Disco starting tomorrow.
