It may be a few weeks later, but rappers are still coming out of the woodwork to respond to Kendrick Lamar‘s gauntlet verse on “Control.” Joey Bada$$ is on the forefront of New York’s new wave of hip-hop so his response actually seems pretty valid even if it took him a few days to collect his thoughts.
The track is called “Killuminati Pt. 2” and in the description Joey notes that it is “4 brklyn.” Over a sinuous string-heavy instrumental, Joey raps effectively and passionately, calling Kendrick the “Prince of Bel Air” and specifically addresses the New York shots: “The ‘King of New York’/you think we’re just gonna let that one hang?” Listen to the Knxwledge-produced track from the Pro Era rapper below.
