Beck is a strange one. You can never quite predict what he’ll be up to next, but it’s his spontaneity (and not to mention his quirkiness) that’s given us such great stuff. When we first caught wind of his collaboration with JJ Doom (refresher: JJ Doom = MF Doom and Jneiro Jarel), there was definitely a “huh?” moment. But after giving Beck’s remix of “Banished” a listen, perhaps we were wrong to dismiss this as being too random (or even maybe—gasp—gimmicky), because dammit does it ever work well.
