Dream Koala - "Odyssey"

When we first heard Parisian Dream Koala a year ago, there were flickers of brilliance. “Treehouse” achieved a hypnotizing effect with guitar and keys dancing over electronics, but the young producer still had a lot to prove. The now 19-year-old Dream Koala, who just moved from Paris to Berlin two weeks ago, has delivered on that promise of potential. He’s been on The Boiler Room with Flume, proven he can recreate the magic of his first single, and now with “Odyssey,” he’s made what is possibly his best and most fully realized song yet. “Odyssey” feels more alive than anything he’s done, with vocals taking on a bigger role and production swelling with more complexity than ever before.

If “Odyssey” is any indication, this rising talent has got a very bright future. He explains, “This track is inspired by a dream I had where I died in a plane crash. ‘Odyssey’ comes from the travels of Ulysses – his fear of never coming back home & never reaching his ambitions. It’s a track about deception and the fear of death, the fear of never accomplishing your goals.”
