Drake Responds To Amanda Bynes' Tweet, Icona Pop's "I Love It" Gets Weird Sesame Street Treatment

We see a lot of really random shit every week. Deciding what to post and what to ignore is a constant balancing act that requires much skill, judgment, and discretion. Sometimes it depends on how drunk we are or how trollish we're feeling. Instead of simply letting these things pass us by, we decided to keep track of them and gather them all together for this post, which we'll do weekly. These are the kinds of things P&P writers email each other like, "ROFL omg WOW." Welcome to the party.

2. Nas helped raise over $50,000 for a homeless family

Stanley Young is the name of an unemployed single father who recently became homeless after a fire destroyed his apartment two weeks ago. Young and his family are now living in a hotel, but are quickly running out of money to do so. Nas caught wind of this story and decided to step in and do something. The rapper used a Crowdtilt page to raise money for Young's family. Setting out with a goal of $50,000 Nas has already amassed upwards of $56,000 and with 8 days left, it's an amount that's sure to continue to climb.

As for some reasoning behind his grand gesture, Nas wrote on his page

"I am also a single father, and we don’t get enough credit in this country. I believe and hope that we should all, as a community, come together to help our fellow American men and women when they need us in desperate situations like this."

4. A muppet Riff Raff Vine account exists because of course it does

When it comes to Vine, there's no one that has conquered the social media quite like Riff Raff. So it was only a matter of time before someone created an account for the muppet version of Riff Raff, right? Honestly I wanted to hate on this, but it's so intricate and well done that I kind of love it. I mean look at his muppet braids and his muppet grill and his muppet jewelry.

Yup, A+!

7. Cookie Monster made a cover of Icona Pop's "I Love It" about (what else?) cookies

When I first saw that the Cookie Monster made his own rendition of Icona Pop's "I Love It," I was like "Aw, that's kewt!" But then I heard that it was titled "Me Want It (But Me Wait)" and I was like "Erg, that's kind of weird," and then I watched it and was fully. creeped. out. I don't know, I could be alone on this but I'm pretty sure there's a better cover Cookie Monster could have sung that didn't involve the lyrics, "When me lose control/When me on the brink/Need to just calm down/Me need to stop and think." Those are not lyrics for a kindergartner, those are lyrics for an alcoholic. Or, as one YouTube user stated:

10. In case you were wondering, here is a complete history of twerking

Twerking may be more popular than ever (thanks to reigning twerk queen, Miley Cyrus) but it's been around for a while. VH1 recently compiled a whole history of the dance move depicted in pop culture in the last 20 years and it's awesome. So pause "We Can't Stop" and learn about all those who taught Miley what she knows here.

13. Jeff Bhasker breaks down the difference between "Yeezus" and Wale

"You'll still be listening to [Yeezus] in 10 years, 20 years — not whatever else album came out today. I love Wale, but I don't think that's the music people are going to actually say, "That's what defined this year." That's what Kanye does – over and over again"

15. 2 Chainz and his daughter love "Call Me Maybe"

If you haven't noticed, 2 Chainz has been killing it lately. His Twitter is top notch and his verse on Drake's "All Me" incorporated one of the best high-class sneezes in the history of, well, ever. But when 2 Chainz is not busy turning everything he touches into gold, he's busy with his number one role in life: Dad. Recently, he shared a video on his Instagram of him hanging with his daughter, in which the two rock out to Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe." And much like Dad, 2 Chainz' daughter completely nails it and gives the song her all. The best part though? The Gucci slippers hanging from the rear view mirror-because when you're in 2 Chainz' car, what else would be hanging there?! A damn air freshner? GTFO.

17. Here's Brian Williams rapping Young MC's "Bust a Move"

If Bill Clinton singing "Blurred Lines" and President Obama covering "Get Lucky" wasn't enough to fulfill your viral video void, here's a video of Brian Williams rapping Young MC's "Bust a Move." And by that I mean here's a compilation of clips of Brian Williams spliced together to make it look like he's rapping Young MC's "Bust a Move." This one is really well done (shout out to Jimmy Fallon's crew), which got me thinking: what public figure could they do next? And while I'm no voice-dub expert, I do have one suggestion: Regis Philbin. And if you have to ask why, just look at this GIF:

Wow, moves. I'm not saying "let's lock it in, final answer," but let's just toss it in the mix of possibilities, that's all.

19. Miley Cyrus' next album is named BANGERZ. No, really.

Miley Cyrus is like one bizarre surprise after another this year. From her foray into a rapping career to her controversial "We Can't Stop" video, she's effectively shocked fans and critics alike. Her album title though, may be the weirdest thing yet. The singer took to Twitter to announce that her upcoming record will be titled BANGERZ.

20.

mileytweettt

Yes, that's with a Z and yes, sure you can add a hashtag if you want. Cyrus explains that she chose the name because her album will be full of BANGERZ. That's like Celine Dion calling her album BALLADZ or Metallica naming theirs ROCKSONGZ or me titling my memoir EMBARRASSMENTZ. Just no Miley.

21. Drake thinks Amanda Bynes is "a little weird and disturbing" but don't we all?

Unless you've been living under a rock, you're probably aware of Amanda Bynes' bizarre behavior over the past few months. One of the first incidents was her tweet about wanting Drake to "murder her vagina." Now, in his cover interview with XXL Magazine, Drake has finally responded to the whole situation. Well kinda. He tells the mag:

"If that is her, I guess it’s a little weird and disturbing. It’s obviously a behavioral pattern that is way bigger than me. Whoever is behind it, whether it’s her or somebody else, they know people are paying attention so they keep it going."

Wait you mean you don't think this is attractive?

24. Jay Z's got 99 boxes of Captain Crunch but a crunchberry ain't one

A few days after Jay Z released his latest album, Magna Carta...Holy Grail, the usually private rapper made a rare move and took to social media to answer fans questions. Out of all the hard hitting inquiries thrown at Jay, one arose out of the masses as the most prolific: What's your favorite cereal?

25.

jayzcaptaintweet

Luckily someone saw this and decided to help Jay Z out. In a recent interview with Power 106 FM Los Angeles the rapper said someone sent him 99 boxes of Captain Crunch: "It’s a gift and a curse, it’s good and it’s bad. I got 99 boxes of Captain Crunch. I guess that’s the good part of it.”

That "someone" was later outed as (obviously) Cap'n Crunch.

Honestly, celebrities have it all! Jay Z sends one tweet about liking Captain Crunch and he gets 99 boxes of it. I'm out here tweeting about Hot Pockets on the daily and I haven't received ONE gift from them. But if I was a celebrity? I'd be damn near drowning in Hot Pockets. I'd probably have so many of them that I'd be using them as pillows and chairs and shit. What a life!
