Video: Franz Ferdinand - "Right Action"

Franz Ferdinand returns to the fore today with a fresh set of striking visuals for their single “Right Action.” The song will appear on their upcoming release Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Actions, set to debut in the U.S. on August 27th. From what we’ve heard so far, the album represents a return to the jangling guitars and irresistible riffs that first brought the band international acclaim in 2004—happily, however, this does not seem to come with any old tricks, repetition for the sake of commercial success. The Scots are having fun, goofing around lyrically and instrumentally in a way that recalls the Beatles’ Sergeant Pepper’s departure.

The video itself is fantastic. The band gets funky in front of a green screen that vacillates between psychedelic wallpaper and Saul-Bass inspired title cards. They’re definitely flexing a little more of their creative muscle onscreen, willing to get weird and take a few more risks.
