It was nearly one year ago to the day that we were first introduced to the enigmatic twosome of Lizzy Plapinger and Max Hershenow, best known now by fans and music lovers alike as simply MS MR. Their breakout single “Hurricane” was nothing short of spellbinding, and in the months that followed this New York-based duo continued to impress, with each successive release feeling somehow more haunting and refined than the last.

With their debut album Secondhand Rapture set to release on May 14 (stream now), the pair recently teamed up with Myspace for an exclusive live recording of two tracks off their forthcoming LP. “Dark Doo Wop” and “Salty Sweet” were each performed in the intimate, rustic confines of The Log Cabin studio at Manhattan Center. Referred to as a “sonic oasis,” the Log Cabin has previously been used by artists ranging from Duran Duran to Jay-Z.

MS MR may have emerged onto the scene under a rather dense cloak of mystery, but this Myspace-directed series should help shed some light on these unique artists and their dynamic personalities. Enjoy the performance of “Dark Doo Wop” above, and be sure to check back tomorrow when the second installment of this session premieres.
