Album Stream: The Uncluded (Aesop Rock & Kimya Dawson) - "Hokey Fright"

None

There is an infinite amount of possibility in music. Still, as more and more music piles up, it gets harder and harder to be original. All artists draw from their influences, from the current trends, and from the artists around them. And even when an artist has stumbled upon some great new idea on their own, there’s a pretty good chance that they’re unknowingly venturing into territory that has already been explored.

The Uncluded, though, have something completely unique on their hands here. Aesop Rock‘s densely packed flows mixed with Kimya Dawson‘s (of The Moldy Peaches) quirky, playful acoustic songwriting combine in an odd and cozy way, despite the fact that they were both inspired by the deaths of friends during the creation of the album.

With a lot of music, you can say that “if you like so-and-so, you’ll like this.” You can’t really do that with The Uncluded. If you like Aesop Rock or Kimya Dawson, then you might like Aesop Rock and Kimya Dawson. Listen to their new album at The Current.
