Salt Cathedral is a Brooklyn collective that formerly went by the name Il Abanico, but with the new year have reinvented their name and given their sound a fresh spin. This track “Dirty Me” perfectly exemplifies the experimental and linear forms that the band utilizes, straying away from traditional song structure without fully losing the form of the track.
The piercing voice of lead singer Juliana Ronderos feels like just another instrument amidst the samples, synths and beats of the song—but it never feels busy—despite the variant elements.
The group will be performing with fellow electro-crooner break-outs Hundred Waters this Saturday, March 23 at Glasslands in Williamsburg. Stream the track below and also check out their other recent single “Take Me to the Sea.”
