Led by the gentle voice of Swedish-Argentine José González, Junip is a departure from the bare-boned acoustic stylings that fans of José’s most well-known solo work might expect, but the trio pulls it off well. Over a more full-bodied, dramatic backdrop, José steps up and delivers Paul Simon-esque vocals while the music builds, striking a handsome balance between understated and overindulgent.
Now we can enjoy the track even more thanks to the Mikel Cee Karlsson-directed video, which takes you into a personal and uncomfortable space.
