The Flaming Lips To Release New Album

Experimental rockers The Flaming Lips have announced that they plan to release a new studio album this spring, entitled The Terror. The LP, which will be the first album the band has released since 2009, is due out on April 2 and will contain nine new tracks. Yet if you think this album will be similar to their last album, think again. Instead, frontman Wayne Coyne said it will be a “bleak, disturbing record,” elaborating:

We want, or wanted, to believe that without love we would disappear, that love, somehow, would save us that, yeah, if we have love, give love and know love, we are truly alive and if there is no love, there would be no life. The Terror is, we know now, that even without love, life goes on… we just go on… there is no mercy killing.

Hey, at least they haven’t lost any of their beloved eccentricity. Digital pre-orders for the The Terror will begin on January 29, and includes a non-album, bonus track titled, “Sun Blows Up Today.” Check out the tracklisting for the album below:
