One of my 2013 resolutions is to discover more new music. Sometimes keeping up with the stuff we already like can cut into the attention it takes to find things we don’t know about yet. From the beginning, Pigeons & Planes has been about balance. It’s not just about regurgitating press emails, hyping up the buzz bands of the moment, or promoting the major labels’ carefully crafted next superstar, and there’s nothing more gratifying than listening to 100 unknowns and finding one or two new acts you really like.

With that said, here is Charlotte, North Carolina’s Paint Fumes. Their new LP, Uck Life, released in December or 2012, is a loud, crunchy blend of garage rock, blues, punk, and a visceral recklessness that brings it all to life. Thanks to Ariane for the recommendation.
