Forward-thinking Los Angeles producer Ras G and emcee Open Mike Eagle recently took their talents to Uganda to launch an exchange project with emerging Ugandan hip-hop artists, bridging culture and language barriers to craft a total of six tracks. Sponsored by a Los Angeles nonprofit group called Justice United in Creative Energy (JUICE), the two traveled to Kampala, Uganda to teach a two week course on hip-hop. The resulting Kampala Blackout EP can be downloaded here, and a short documentary on their travels and experiences is below.
