Mesita - "XYXY"

1.

Mesita‘s been working on some new music, and his latest one tackles some heavy real-life issues. Here’s what he said about the new song:

“This one’s a little more personal. It’s about the delusions that come from growing up closeted, and all the mental struggles that come along with it. The whole album is going to focus a little more on that kind of subject, supplemented with loud bass synths, strings, keys and grit beats. It’ll be called Future Proof, and I hope to release early next year.”

I asked him if he meant “closeted” as in gay or as in sheltered, and he responded:

“I mean gay gay, completely homosexual gay, which I am and have been. I’ve been out to the people around me for a while and have had nothing but incredible support from them. It hasn’t been something I’ve wished to exploit, but since it has always been a part of me, it’s hard not to focus on and draw inspiration from. I don’t see it much different than writing about the place you come from or the struggles someone had while growing up. I guess this is the track I’ve decided to be the most blunt about it. I don’t aim to make it the only subject that this music is about, but my homosexuality is something I can’t shy away from if I’m to maintain my honesty and sanity…”
