It’s rare for a music video to really deepen the effect of the song it’s trying to represent. Perfume Genius, however, seems to have gotten the hang of it. For the second time, he’s taken a cut from his sophomore album, Put Your Back N 2 It, and given it a video that makes you feel for the song more than you did on the album. “Dark Parts” is a sad, personal song about his mother, and he gets her to be the star of the video. It’s the kind of touch that creates connections and complements the original song immeasurably.
