As of a few days ago you can stream Grimes’ new album, Visions (spoiler: it’s fantastic), and now a complementary and complimentary hip-hop remix courtesy of North Carolina rapper Deniro Farrar and his frequent collaborator Ryan Hemsworth. Hemsworth’s reimagining of Grime’s “Genesis” makes for one hell of a melancholy banger. It’s perfect for Deniro, who steps up to the plate and delivers a few of his characteristically heartbroken verses. You should like this, because Grimes does and she’s infallible.
Deniro Farrar is definitely a rapper worth checking out, this song is great and it’s not a fluke. His album Destiny Altered came out earlier this month, and it’s best described as emotionally potent gangsta rap. I’ve spun through it a couple times and am showing no signs of stopping that anytime soon, you can grab the whole thing (name your own price, but all profits go to the producers) below.
