This is an odd couple. The Big Pink have been killing it in their lane of indie-pop with a serious electronic bite. The kind of stuff I don’t really listen to on my own but totally know will kill it on a road trip CD or perfect when you’ve got to throw something on a playlist because you’ve got people coming over. “Dominos” is still that jam, and their newest track “Hit The Ground” holds up the rep. They’ve already impressed us on the remix game, enlisting Araabmuzik (and later Danny Brown) to take on their last single, “Stay Gold.” However, King Krule – the crushingly depressing singer-songwriter previously known as Zoo Kid – was not someone we’d expect to see remixing The Big Pink. The result of his take on “Hit The Ground (Superman)” is dark, swirling and cool.

For reference purposes, stream the original below. I’m pretty sure that piano line is straight out of The Game’s “Westside Story.”
