New Order are on my to-do list. Have been for a long, long time now. They’re part of rock canon, I know they are very good, I’ve just never listened to them before. If this cover is any indicator, I’ve really been missing out.
Destroyer already wowed us this year, their album Kaputt was one of the best records released this year. Covering New Order for a themed issue of Mojo magazine, they ditch the new wave sensibilities of that album for a more classic rock feel – all riffs and emotion. This is one of those rare covers that has me racing to buy the original record as fast as I can.
