Bahamas - "I Got You Babe"

1.

On Tuesday, February 7th you will wake up and it will feel like a normal morning. You’ll go about your typical weekday routine. Nothing will seem different, but something will be. You see if the calendar were to skip that Tuesday, the new album Barchords (pre-order) from Afie Jurvanen aka Bahamas, would never release. It would exist, just never be heard. Stuck in some sort of musical purgatory it would rot and disintegrate into the memory of a recording that never was. How sad. Thankfully that’s not how our system of reckoning works. It only skips the 29th of February, every four years, because clearly that makes more sense.

At a trim 2:47 “I Got You Babe” packs everything you’d like to hear from a folksy rock song into a single concise punch. It’s guitar-riff heavy, catchy, and ironically about the loss of a loved one. Fearlessly tapping into a raw emotion can sometimes result in beauty. Don’t believe me? Just press play.

For what it’s worth, I’d suggest getting to know Afie better. Below you can view a video of him recording a portion of Barchords. He’s a talented man, and this is well worth your attention.

A bit of promotional album art.
