According to NME, a new documentary titled Heaven Adores You that will look at Elliott Smith’s life, as well as the impact he’s made on both fans and musicians since his premature death, is being made. Under the direction of Nickolas Rossi, the latter focus of the film will be incorporated through highlighting musical acts that have been influenced by Smith’s music. The three cities that he had called home (Portland, New York, and Los Angeles) will also be a focal point, going “beyond your average ‘behind the music’ documentary.”
Rossi says about the film: “I was living in Portland, OR between the years of 1994-1999. I fondly remember discovering Elliott’s music and it’s always been the soundtrack to my time in the Pacific Northwest. There is a strong fan base for Elliott’s music, even eight years after his death. His music is also being discovered by fans who haven’t heard of him until now.”
